Also known as the famous “Pillar Dollar”, this 1754 8 Reales was struck in Lima, Peru during the reign of King Ferdinand VI. These coins are historically significant as precursors to the U.S. silver dollar, widely circulated in the American colonies and beyond.

This example displays a few small specks of dark toning on the obverse, possibly hinting at a saltwater environment at some point in its history, yet it remains beautifully preserved. A true classic “piece of eight,” impressive in hand and a highlight for any silver coin collection.
