A rare Pegasus Stater from the island city of Leucas, never before offered!

Leucas, founded by Corinthians in the 7th century BC, later joined the Acarnania confederacy to maintain independence against Corinth and Sparta. Strategically located along maritime trade routes to Italy, Acarnania often aligned with Athens during conflicts. Despite periods of Spartan control in the 4th century BC, the city continued to mint its own coinage in smaller quantities, making this issue particularly rare.

Reverse: Head of Athena left, wearing Corinthian helmet over leather cap; mint mark AN monogram control-symbol.
