Check out this Cuban 10 Peso Gold, produced at the Philadelphia Mint in 1915 and 1916.

Why was the U.S. Mint striking Cuban coins? During World War I, Cuba’s sugar became a vital commodity as European sugar production fell. The U.S. purchased sugar from Cuba and demanded payment in gold. Between 1913 and 1920, Cuban sugar production surged, with new mills and investors, including Milton Hershey, developing infrastructure to meet growing demand.

These US-minted Cuban gold coins are highly sought after today for both their historical significance and bullion value. This 10 Peso gold coin contains 0.4838 oz of pure gold, the same weight as a U.S. $10 Indian or Liberty coin.
