A stunning silver tetradrachm minted under King Perseus of Macedon, circa 174–173 BC at Pella or Amphipolis. Perseus was the last Greek ruler of Macedon, inheriting a kingdom already largely dependent on Rome. His policies ultimately led to armed conflict, culminating in the Battle of Pydna (168 BC). Perseus died in exile in Italy two years later.
