Graded NGC AU, this example has earned the Fine Style designation for its above-average craftsmanship and artistry. Minor graffito noted, but the coin’s overall quality and historical significance are outstanding.

Obverse: Janiform Dioscuri – two beardless heads facing opposite directions, symbolizing duality and transition.

Reverse: Jupiter in quadriga galloping right, driven by winged Victory; Jupiter holds a sceptre in his left hand and hurls a thunderbolt with his right; ROMA incuse on raised tablet below.

Highlights & Historical Significance:

Considered a precursor to the Roman Denarius (introduced in 211 BC), but heavier and more artistically refined.

Janus symbolism: God of gates, beginnings, and endings; two heads looking in opposite directions, representing past and future simultaneously.

Quadriga on reverse emphasizes Roman military and divine power.

Fine Style craftsmanship makes it one of the more aesthetically pleasing Quadrigatus examples available.

A perfect coin for collectors of ancient Roman silver, history enthusiasts, or investors in rare numismatics.
