This early Seleucid issue was produced at the city of Susa, one of the most important cities of the Ancient Near East. It is located in the lower Zagros mountains about 165 miles east of the Tigris river. The modern city of Shush, Iran is located on the site of the ancient city. In was in this city that Alexander celebrated a mass wedding between the Persians and Macedonians shortly after his invasion of the city. This fine style example is nearly perfect yet doesn’t achieve the 5/5 strike as the coin was stuck multiple times and resulted in a dramatic die shift upon the second strike resulting in a doubled Nike on the reverse. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🏛🏛🔥🔥🔥🔥
